Building on the success of Blue Magic Belgium over the past two years in engaging Belgian industry to identify cutting-edge technologies for the MQ-9B SkyGuardian®, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is excited to announce that it will once again host this event in September 2021. GA-ASI will continue to expand its Business-to-Business cooperation with Belgian Industry as it has in other European countries for the development of sovereign Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) capabilities.

GA-ASI is proud that the Government of Belgium has approved Belgian Defense’s acquisition of MQ-9B SkyGuardian via U.S. Government Foreign Military Sales to meet the nation’s RPAS requirements. SkyGuardian is the next generation of GA-ASI’s multi-mission MQ-9 RPAS family, which has achieved over 6.5 million flight hours. SkyGuardian builds upon this legacy with new and improved capabilities such as all-weather operations, short-field deployment and recovery, automatic take-off and landing, endurance in excess of 40 hours, and a Detect and Avoid System. SkyGuardian has also been selected by the UK Royal Air Force for its Protector program.

The panel interviews will be held at the following location:

DronePort’s location in Sint-Truiden on April 21 and 22, 2020

DronePort Campus, Sint-Truiden

September 15 and 16, 2021

Please submit a request to participate by August 13, 2021.

Belgian companies are invited to submit their requests to participate by completing the Event Participation Request form. Requests to participate should be accompanied by a company profile and a project proposal. The project proposal should explain specifically how the applicant’s product or technology could be applied to GA-ASI’s lines of business, and should identify a pilot project that could be executed over approximately one year that would advance the technology and demonstrate its applicability. Companies will be selected to participate based upon their technology or product, and how it can contribute to GA-ASI’s business. Requests and proposals will be reviewed by GA-ASI’s technical review panel, and the selected companies will be sent a formal invitation with the event details and a time to meet with GA-ASI’s subject matter experts to discuss their company’s capabilities and project proposal.

Please review the GA-ASI and MQ-9B SkyGuardian overview presentation prior to submitting your request to participate. Your timely and complete answers to the following questions, as well as your company presentations and proposals, will be the criteria used to determine participation in the Research & Development (R&D) event. Small and Medium enterprises are of particular interest to GA-ASI in participant selection.
