CANADA'S REMOTELY PILOTED AIRCRAFT SYSTEM SOLUTION

PROVEN

Team SkyGuardian Canada leverages the power of the MQ-9 platform to deliver Canada’s remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) solution. The MQ-9 platform which has supported Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR), and Targeting missions for NATO, Five Eyes and other key allies for over a decade, has paved the way for the next-generation MQ-9B series of aircraft. The world-class RPAS stems from a powerful family of systems that has logged more than 9 million flight hours—90% of them in combat—supporting military, security, civil and environmental operations worldwide.

MQ-9B SkyGuardian® and its maritime-focused SeaGuardian® variant represent the best RPAS in their class, with unmatched endurance and reliability. Designed for interoperability and adaptability to support a range of mission sets, MQ-9B is in operation with the UK Royal Air Force under their Protector RG Mk1 designation and with the Belgian Air Force. The demand for MQ-9B continues to grow with an expanding list of countries selecting it for their high priority ISR requirements, including Japan, Taiwan, Poland, India, Denmark, Germany, and Qatar.

Designated CQ-9B Guardian by the Royal Canadian Air Force, the multi-mission aircraft is poised to deliver critical multi-domain surveillance, reconnaissance, and strike capabilities to ensure Canada’s sovereignty and Arctic security, as well as to contribute to NORAD continental defence and NATO priorities abroad. CQ-9B officially joins the RCAF fleet in 2028—providing the Canadian Armed Forces a multi-role solution for overland and maritime operations.

CAPABLE

Canada's vast territories and complex terrains, including in the Arctic, will have a cost-effective, versatile RPAS solution able to endure long periods on station and withstand harsh weather while safely navigating civil airspace. With true all-weather capability, EMAR/FR 145 certification and full compliance with NATO STANAG 4671 airworthiness requirements, CQ-9B Guardian will play a pivotal role in delivering persistent multi-domain awareness for Canada's Armed Forces and enhancing the capabilities of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

In May 2025, the UK Military Aviation Authority issued a Military Type Certificate to the Royal Air Force Protector RG Mk1, confirming its safety for unrestricted operational use.

CANADIAN

Team SkyGuardian brings together Canada's best in business and technology to serve its people, its Armed Forces, and supporting industries, ensuring that the new CQ-9B RPAS fleet is tailored to the nation’s needs. The team’s focus is on strengthening the Canadian defence industrial base through cutting-edge technologies, economic growth, and investment in advanced capabilities.
