ATHENA RF TAG
The Ultimate Stealthy Blue Force Tracking Device
Under contract to the U.S. Army CERDEC LPI/LPD, a team led by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems has developed and demonstrated radar tag technology responsive to the Blue Force tracking and Combat Identification (CID) needs of the warfighter. The technology is based on team member Sandia National Laboratories’ coherent gain block RF Tag architecture, which has been demonstrated in field tests to be compatible with a wide range of surveillance and firecontrol radars.
Small (4.25 x 4.5 x 2.5 in.) rugged prototype units, capable of withstanding the demands of ground force vehicle use, have been delivered to the U.S. Army CERDEC for field utility testing. An advanced integrated circuit version is under development for volume production.
